Why I disagree with the NIL rule

  As a lot of people know, the NCAA recently passed a rule stating that players will be allowed to profit off their name and likeliness.  To most people, this is a good thing, a big deal, finally NCAA athletes will be able to profit off of their names and make extra money for college things like that.  Me, as someone who was a high school athlete and has been a college football fan my whole life, as someone going to college,  I think this is wrong.  To me, selling your name and letting athletes make money.  In a lot of ways, I think it ruins the sport, because after all, college sports are not about the money and glory things like that.  Thats what pro sports are supposed to do.  College sports are supposed to be about passion, not about pay, or having a job, things like that.  In my opinion, college athletes are paid in scholarships and college aid, and how players do in and on the field to earn that money.  With the NIL ruling, college athletes are not going to be to focused on money

Sunshine state hockey rivalry living up to the hype

  THE PANTHERS AND LIGHTNING HAVE CREATED ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING PLAYOFF SERIES WE HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE The Florida panthers are set for a heated game six on Wednesday night at the Amalie arena at 8 pm.  In what has been an up and down series for both teams.  The lightning who had a seemingly insurmountable 3-1 lead in the series have suffered a critical loss in their hopes in winning the series after a 4-1 loss to bring the series to 3-2.  A win for the lightning would mean a series victory tonight and a win for the Florida panthers would create a challenging Friday night game 7 at the BB&T center in Sunrise for the Tampa Bay Lighting.

A NFL draft unlike any other

A Draft unlike any other... What would have been a grand spectacle in Las Vegas with the iconic Bellagio fountains in what would have been a fantastic backdrop for the 2020 draft to all the sudden becoming an unusual and unprecedented draft where the players stay at home in quarantine as they hear their names being called at home.  There will be no walking on a stage, no hugging the commissioner, no crowd, and no watch parties for any of the teams in this years draft.  This years draft in just about every way possible is different from any other NFL Draft, in times where we have to be resilient and work together as a race to get through these tough times we have been going through for the past month.  But even as all of this chaos happens throughout our planet, there is nothing about this draft that will change it from any other, the stage will be as big as ever, the stakes are still high as always, and when the names are called, the players will still get that once in a lifetime

Rob Gronkowski comes out of retirement to play for the Buccaneers

The Gronk-Brady duo comes to Florida Rob Gronkowski comes out of retirement after 2 years of not playing.  On Tuesday 4/21 Gronkowski was traded by the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay buccaneers for a fourth round draft pick.  Rob Gronkowski was responsible for more than 7,800 receiving yards, and 79 total receiving touchdowns and helped guide Tom Brady and the New England patriots to 3 super bowl wins.  He is also responsible for 16% of Tom Brady's total touchdowns regular season and post season. The buccaneers already have one of the most talented receiving cores in the NFL right now.  With guys like Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, O.J Howard and Cameron Brate.  With the edition of Gronk, who knows how much better this receiving core will be.  I know that this season has not started yet.  But I think the Buccaneers are a playoff, maybe super bowl caliber team under the right circumstances.  But there is still a lot of things that need to happen in order for me to even th

3 future NFL offensive rookies that will make impact regardless of draft pick

3 players that I think will make an impact regardless of when they are selected in the draft (offense) 1. Jalen Hurts:  Probably one of the biggest questions going into the 2020 NFL draft is when Jalen Hurts will get drafted.  To me he is one of the most improved players in the draft.  Before last season I saw him as a 6th rounder at best because before, his arm did not really impress me at Alabama.  This season at Oklahoma, what impressed me was the way he improved week by week and got better as the season went on.  In the NFL I only see him getting better.  It might take a year or two on the bench before he gets a chance, but I do see him starting eventually. 2. Cam Akers:  When you talk about NFL draft Running Backs, I think the most ready running back power, speed, and size wise for the NFL is Cam Akers.  I really do not see why he is not a first rounder.  To me he has the all of the attributes of a top tier NFL running back.  He is fast, he also runs with power, and has

The no call: A deep rewind

The no call, a little more than a year later... Heston Curry   4/14/20 Back in 2019, at the Marcedes-Benz superdome, we saw one of the worst no calls personally I have ever seen.  A uncalled pass interference call that would have given the Saints the ball at the 5 yard line, a new set of downs and with the Rams only having one timeout left, the Saints would have been able to run out the clock before scoring and leaving the Rams possibly only enough time for maybe a hail mary.  Even to this day I am pretty sure we all wonder to this day, what if the refs did call pass interference?  Well here is a full timeline from the NFC title game to the super bowl based on my opinion and possible prediction starting from that call to how I think it would have affected the super bowl. The state of Maine cancels spring sports for the 2021 school year

Maine cancels all high school spring sports for  2021 Heston Curry  4/9/2020 As coronavirus looms, the state of Maine in a very dumb and stupid move has decided to cancel spring sports for 2021.  To me, this is a big loss to this coronavirus.  And while I understand in many ways that this might be necessary, I still find it a very dumb and stupid move on behalf of the school board of Maine.  To me seeing this really frightens me because as a 17 year old high school football player in Florida entering my senior year next year,  I am worried that Florida is going to follow suite and react just as recklessly.  It is really going to suck for the seniors going into next school year knowing that they have no chance at an athletic scholarship due to the cancellation of spring sports.  I personally see this as a total overreaction and a complete shame that a state would react like this.  Maine is so far the first state to have such an extreme reaction like this which could cause other s
